    Job Summary

    Performs procedures according to departmental protocol as established by Radiologist(s); understands procedure preparation for general radiologyPresents examination education to the patient prior to the exam, gives post procedure instructions pertinent to the exam performed.Properly identify and verify patient. Interviews the patient to obtain patient’s medical history or important information regarding the nature of the exam being performed; documents that information appropriatelyDemonstrates knowledge of all digital and computed radiography procedures (evaluation of digital image, operation and re-loading of imaging plates, burn CD's, etc.)Critiques images prior to submitting for interpretation. Monitors film quality; maintains film repeat rate of 5 percent or lessUtilizes appropriate film markers (ie: Mitchell Markers, scout film, time, portable stickers, etc.)Utilizes shielding/collimation to minimize patient radiation exposure, complies with Radiation Safety Procedures and ALARA principles; monitors own radiation exposureCleans cassettes and screens as required.Transports mobile x-ray equipment to ER, patient’s rooms and surgery.Assists the Radiology manager with departmental Quality AssuranceChecks lab values per departmental protocolIs able to identify and respond to a contrast reaction and/or patient deterioration; is familiar with drug box, location of crash carts and intubation equipment; is familiar with procedure for calling a “codeInitiates applicable Risk Identification Reports and reports incomplete and incorrect examinations to ensure proper patient charges and continuity of patient carePerforms all other duties and responsibilities as necessary

    Qualifications

     Licenses/Certificates:
    1. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology or eligible.
    2. AHA BLS required

    3. One to two years acute care hospital expereince is preferred.
